Build a profitable blog with 10 simple steps

Chris Garrett from Performancing.com wrote about “10 Step Plan to a Profitable Blog” [link] and it’s pretty much what I’m doing now with my blog.

As mentioned by Chris the 10 step idea might not be ideal to make big money online, but it works well for me to make some decent income with the blogs I have.. and perhaps with the money earned from my blogs, I can start something different later on.

Chris’s 10 Step Plan to a Profitable Blog..

1. Select a list of profitable niches and choose a niche with the most potential
2. Find all the products and services your blog can sell through affiliate channels
3. Discover the high-paying Adsense phrases and focus your content around them
4. Build a template that emphasises your Adsense and affiliate products
5. Build loyal RSS and email subscriptions
6. Build authority and trust through regular useful content. Post at least one new article every day, more if you can manage it
7. Generate traffic through good post titles, email subject lines and linkbait
8. Monitor your metrics, see which content brings in the most traffic and clicks and produce more of it
9. When you hit on a good conversion rate, pay for advertising
10. Diversify, start more blogs. Find an overlapping niche, rinse and repeat

I would recommend to add something important on top of the list, that is to start with something that you are interested in, something that you will have passion to research in and write about everyday.

Make a list of things that you like or really expert with, than from the list of your interest, start to look for the niche and followed the 10 steps from Chris.

The 10 steps are simple plan that’s pretty easy to follow, people that can’t succeed with it most likely started with the wrong niche or give up rather easily without hard work.

Does following the 10 steps guarantee success with profitable blog? The answer is no, sometimes we do have to blame it on luck. However if we keep or persistency and passion, that’s a good chance we will succeed in the end.

Good luck, enjoy blogging and make some money.
