Keeping track on site stats
Some experience webmaster will say that newbies are wasting too much time on keeping track on site stats, partly true but in my opinion it’s important to keep track of your site traffic especially when your site is new.
A few things that I normally analyze is where are the traffic coming from, and try to improve and utilize on the most effective way to promote the website.
Let’s say if there’s a sudden burst of traffic coming from some forums, I will join as a member and participate with the members in the forum. That build rapport and the forum members will come back to my site as repeat visitor.
If the traffic is coming from search engine, I will know which keyword combination is working the best and optimized it next time.
Keeping track on site stats is not like staring at the visitor bar hoping for improvement, it involves analyzing and constant improvement.
However please don’t overdo it, I normally analyze it once or twice a week. I actually have friends that check their site stats every few hours, now that’s overdone.
