New Yahoo! search crawler, Yahoo! Slurp
Yahoo! has announced a new search crawler “Yahoo! Slurp” earlier this week. [link]
Yahoo! claimed that Slurp crawl the internet faster and is more efficient at visiting websites, reducing as much as a 25% consumed by the crawler.
Yahoo! has been testing the new crawler a few weeks back in transition with their old crawler.
It’s said that some shuffling of the pages that are included in the index might be expected, and I’m seeing some big websites like wikipedia and imdb are getting more dominance on various keywords.
My websites are experiencing more links being crawled by Yahoo!, but in terms of Search Engine Result Position (SERP), I haven’t seen much changes yet.
We will probably need longer time to see the effect of Yahoo! Slurp, and as always one gain is one pain, some will win and some will lose.
