Google has announced a new advertising program, AdSense for Mobile, a contextually targeted ad platform for mobile website content.
AdSense for Mobile gives the ability to AdSense publishing partners to earn revenue from their mobile websites through the targeted placement of mobile text ads.

Yahoo launches Smart Ads

Yahoo has announced the launch of Yahoo SmartAds, a new advertising platform that delivers tailored display ads to highly targeted audiences.
The new service automatically converts creative campaign elements and offerings into highly customized and relevant display ads by delivering ads according to the Web surfer’s age, gender, location and online activities.

To be safe, avoid all image placements beside Adsense that is meant for increasing CTR.
